The Winner of Euphoria's 2005 Poetry Contest.


It's time to announce our winner for Euphoria's Poetry Contest for 2005, and to tell you we had an unbelievable number of people who submitted poetry for this year's contest! I would like to thank each and every one of you who entered the contest for your submissions, and tell you that we will again welcome your submissions in the 2006 Contest which will begin August 1, 2006.

With great pleasure, I announce the First Prize Winner of Euphoria's 2005 Poetry Contest:



Srinjay Chakravarti

Srinjay Chakravarti is a 33-year-old journalist, economist and poet based in Salt Lake City at Calcutta, India. He works on the editorial staff of an international newspaper based in Calcutta, India. He has graduated with honours in Economics from St. Xavier's College, Calcutta.

His poetry has appeared in numerous publications all over the world. US credits include *Eclectica Magazine*, *The Pedestal Magazine*, *Poetry Super Highway*, *The Avatar Review*, *Carnelian* and *The Bathyspheric Review*. Other publications include *The Journal of the Poetry Society (India)*, *The Poetry Kit*, *Poems Niederngasse*, *Great Works*, *Ygdrasil*, *Dimsum*, *Voices Israel*, *The Journal* (UK), BBC.co.uk, *DeepSouth* (University of Otago) and *Poetry Salzburg Review* (University of Salzburg).

An interview with him is online at www.wah.org.uk and he is Poet-in-Residence at the Argo Boat (Belgium). His journalistic columns include essays and articles on economics, politics, physics (including astrophysics) and literature (including literary criticism and book reviews).

His first book of poems *Occam's Razor* (Writers Workshop, Calcutta) received the SALT literary award from celebrated writer John Kinsella and an Australian literary trust in 1995.
